the somali people have been ravaged and devasted by the feverish savagery of two competing sufi [a mystic form of islam] brotherhoods. this brutality has left a trail of men who, if they have not fled to flee being killed or forcibly used as a soldier, find little hope. many have turned to a drug called khat which is a leaf that is chewed. many men choose to spend their money on khat which is a narcotic instead of caring for their families. Islam has failed to engender any peace, international agencies like the UN have failed, other countries have failed. this is the time of desolation when the only hope is in the God Who lives to intervene. pray:
that men in somalia would turn to Christ. that the veil of prejudices against what it means to follow Christ would be torn: muslims associate Christians with oppression, may the embers who are there shine brightly with hospitality, mercy and compassion. 60% of somalis who are nomads believe following Christ conflicts with their life! may the Lord reveal the joy of the reflection of reality in which they live.
that the habits which bind the men by this drug khat would be torn by the Holy Spirit
that God would direct the hearts of the leaders and warlords of the sufi brotherhoods and clans toward mercy and peace as God reminds in proverbs21.1
that the saints there enduring intense hardships would lean hard with all their troubles on Jehovah-Shammah [Immanuel].
that the ministry of the Christian radio stations [FEBA, Somali voice of new life, and TWR ] would experience anointing from the Holy Spirit.
that the somali flag would come to represent the rising of the true and morning star Jesus Christ over the land.
